Visit to Donkey Sanctuary - UK

In May this year the Loveridges visited the Donkey Sanctuary in Devon, England.  The Donkey Sanctuary is part of a worldwide network of sanctuaries set up by Dr Elizabeth Svendsen MBE.  These sanctuaries rescue and care for unwanted, abandoned and mistreated donkeys as well as provide education for donkey owners in some of the worlds poorest countries.

As part of our visit we had the opportunity to meet Dr Svendsen and visit the Slade Centre.  The Slade Centre is part of the Elizabeth Svendsen Trust, which operates 11 centres across the UK to allow children with special needs to ride and interact with donkeys.  Those children unable to ride are pulled in specially modified wheelchair carts. 

Georgina, the yougest member of the Loveridge clan at 6 years old has special needs and was thrilled to meet Dr Svendsen.  Dr Svendsen also organised a special one on one ride with "Daniel" an EST donkey that works with special children.  As you can see from the picture above Georgina was thrilled!
